OFFICIAL Announcement of Candidacy for Glendale City Council 2026

Dear Neighbors,

I’m Dr. Carolyn Kaloostian, a fourth generation Californian, a Glendale mother raising my family here, and someone who hopes to one day see my grandchildren grow up in this community I love. I am proud to announce my candidacy for Glendale City Council.

I decided to run because too many decisions at City Hall are made without meaningful community input. From bike lanes to broader planning decisions like dedicated bus lanes, residents are too often left out of conversations that directly impact their daily lives. Too often, decisions feel influenced by special interests or political ambition, instead of what’s best for our community.

I am not backed by special interests or political ladders. I am your neighbor, invested in Glendale’s future, running to be a true public servant who listens and ensures our community has a real seat at the table. I will work with the more than 30 HOAs across our city so every neighborhood’s voice is heard.

As a board certified family physician and Chair of the Quality Operations and Standards Subcommittee at Keck Medicine, I have spent my career advocating for people and improving systems, always putting community wellbeing first. I’ve worked with the Department of Public Health developing and implementing LA’s Strategic Plan for Dementia Care and was honored to be named the 2024 Woman of Impact by the American Heart Association.

I focus on root causes, not just symptoms, and that approach will guide my leadership. That means strengthening the foundation of our local economy by supporting small businesses. I will donate my City Council salary to a microfund for them, and vote no on new taxes.

Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more unified Glendale.

With gratitude,

Dr. Carolyn Kaloostian, MD
